112 suicides, fratricide cases in armed forces last year
July 28th, 2010 - 8:15 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 28 (IANS) At least 112 cases of suicide and fratricide have been recorded last year in the armed forces, parliament was informed Wednesday.
“The government is aware that the armed forces have been grappling with instances of fragging and suicide cases every year,” Defence Minister A.K. Antony told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply.
However, the suicide and fratricide cases have shown decline since 2007 when 150 such incidents were recorded.
In 2007, the minister said, 130 cases of suicide and four cases of fratricide were recorded.
