11 suspected Maoists arrested in Bihar
November 2nd, 2009 - 4:00 pm ICT by IANSPatna, Nov 2 (IANS) Eleven suspected Maoist guerrillas, including one prime accused in the Jehanabad jailbreak, were arrested in Bihar’s Gaya district during combing operations early Monday, police said.
Police arrested the 11 rebels, including Sanjay Yadav who was allegedly involved in Jehanabad jailbreak in November 2005, from a village under Atri police station in Gaya, about 100 km from here.
“We arrested these suspected Maoists who were gathered in the village. Their identities are being verified,” a police officer said.
“After an intelligence report, a police team raided the village and arrested suspected Maoists along with country-made pistols, guns and ammunition,” another police officer said.
Gaya and its neighbouring districts of Aurangabad, Jehanabad, Arwal are regarded as a stronghold of the Maoist guerrillas.
