11 robbers held in Delhi

New Delhi, April 14 (IANS) Eleven people, including a man who had a hand in 47 cases, were arrested for their involvement in armed robberies and pickpocketing incidents from the Kashmere Gate bus terminal in the capital, police said Thursday.

The arrested men would travel in a car near bus stands and railway stations to rob people in buses and auto-rickshaws.

Forty-year-old Charanjeet has been identified as the kingpin, and has 47 cases lodged against him.

The other accused are — Suraj Pal, 45, Tinku, 28, Bhagwan Das, 34, Imtiaz, 28, Mahesh Kumar, 45, Rakhi, 33, Deen Dayal, 41, Ram Chander, 45, Vinod, 33, and Inderjeet, 35.

“Three country-made pistols and four live cartridges were recovered from their possession,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police S.S. Yadav.

“Charanjeet was first arrested in 1993 in a robbery case,” he added.
