10 cars to join Delhi Fire Service
August 8th, 2010 - 3:37 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Aug 8 (IANS) About 10 small cars fitted with fire fighting equipment will join the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) ahead of the Commonwealth Games so that they can get through clogged streets faster.
According to DFS director R.C. Sharma, the idea of using small cars is to cut down on the time taken by fire tenders to reach the destination.
“We will have 10 Innova cars during the Games. Two-three personnel will be in it and will have basic equipment for fire fighting,” Sharma told IANS.
According to Sharma, there will be a control room in every stadium and a dedicated fire station with up to three fire tenders.
He said the department was fully prepared to deal with any eventuality during the Oct 3-14 Games that will feature 17 disciplines.
