Yala governor seeking to create confidence in use of free train systemsAugust 25th, 2008 - 10:43 am ICT by Amrit Rashmisrisethi
Yala province Governor Theera Mintrasak (ธีระ มินทราศักด) stated that after the government declared its economic aid policies, especially the policy to allow for free train usage, he has found many citizens in his province still are apprehensive about using the service. He stated that citizens are still wary of insurgent activity and thus to create confidence in train travel he has called for more stringent security measures.
Reports have shown that some 2000 Yala residents use the free train service daily and the governor said that security measures must reassure them of their safety.
The governor accompanied by related groups such as the military, police and civilians used the train service, boarding as Yala station, to travel to Raman (รามัน) district station for a total of 35 kilometers in distance. The rail line now receives more interest.
