Traffic Police oversees traffice along route taken by PADAugust 2nd, 2008 - 11:11 am ICT by Amrit Rashmisrisethi
The Traffic Police Division Commissioner, Pol. Maj. Gen. Phanurat Meepian (ภาณุรัตน์ มีเพียร) is deploying 60-150 officers from the Traffic Police Divisions 1 and 6 to oversee motor traffic difficulties which may arise following movements by the People’s Alliance for Democracy.
The Traffic Police Commissioner reports that the PAD will be conducting rallies along intersections near the Thon Buri district, although specific routes taken by the group have yet to be determined by authorities. Traffic Police will be reporting the location of affected roads to motorists via the Jor Sor Roi ( จส.100), Sor Wor Por 91 (สวพ.91), and Traffic Center 1197 radio channels.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Phanurat adds that the People’s Alliance for Democracy have been rallying since 9:00 AM and started moving from Makhawan Rangsan (มัฆวานรังสรรค์) Bridge to Victory Monument and Sanam Luang (สนามหลวง ). PAD members will be ending their rally by returning to the Makhawan Rangsan Bridge area.
