Thundershowers and isolated heavy rain across Thailand
August 9th, 2008 - 9:12 am ICT by Amrit RashmisrisethiThe Meteorological Department reported at 4 AM today (August 9th) that a rather active low pressure trough lies across upper northern and northeastern Thailand. Thundershowers and isolated heavy rain are expected in the country. People in the risky areas of Mae Hong Son, Tak, Chiang Rai and Nan provinces should beware of flooding conditions.
An intense southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand causes high waves of two to three meters. All ships should proceed with caution.
Bangkok metropolis and vicinity can expect scattered thundershowers. The daily temperature would range from 25 to 33 degrees Celsius. The speed of southwesterly winds would be around 15 to 30 kilometers per hour.
