Thai Olympians representing the nation at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games are scheduled to return to the nation today at 12:10 AM upon flight TG 675. Previously returned gold medalists in weight lifting Prapawadee Jaroenrattanatarakoon (ประภาวดี เจริญรัตนธารากูล) and Taekwondo silver medalist Buttree Puedpong (บุตรี เผือดผ่อง) will join their fellow olympians at Suvarnabhumi International Airport as well as their homecoming parade.
All of the athletes will be transported by bus the National Stadium where a banquet will be held for them at 4 PM, organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. A ceremony by the government, which will also reward the athletes with cash prizes will take place on the 27th of August.
The Airports of Thailand Company has prepared for the arrival of the athletes with flower decorated signs and heavy security. Over 100 police officers have been prepared to aid the athletes in their return. A large throng of citizens are expected to received the olympians and other members of the public are asked to avoid the Phloen Chit and Ratchatewi areas in which the olympic parade will travel today.
