The Department of Export Promotion reports that the trade value between Thailand and the E.U. during the first five months of this year reached 622 billion baht. The department will announce the trade value of the first six months within this week.
Export Promotion Director-General Rachen Pojanasunthorn (ราเชนทร์ พจนสุนทร) discloses that the Thai – E.U. trade value during the five months of the year grew by 13.4% compared with the same period of last year. Thailand has more than 75 billion baht of trade surplus with the E.U. and its important export products include computers and computer parts, jewelry and accessories, air-conditioners, and garments.
Mr Rachen says further that the Ministry of Commerce will announce the overall trade during the first half of the year which is expected to grow continuously within this week. However, he says whether the trade value will lead to a record high depends on the oil price situation and economic problems of Thailand’s trading partners.
