Supreme Court issues 5th warrant for deposed PMOctober 15th, 2008 - 1:32 pm ICT by Amrit Rashmisrisethi
The Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions issues the fifth arrest warrant for former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and temporarily put the case on hold.
The Supreme Court this morning issued the fifth arrest warrant for Mr Thaksin after he failed to attend the court’s first hearing on his telecom tax case. The Attorney General alleges that the former premier abused his authority as he changed telecom concession fees to excise for his personal use and gain.
The arrest warrant issued after this morning’s hearing is Mr Thaksin’s fifth following four previous warrants for other abuses of power, including using his authority as PM to purchase land on Ratchadaphisek.
