The Spokesman to the Prime Minister’s Office, Pol. Lt. Gen. Wichienchote Sukchotirat (วิเชียรโชติ สุกโชติรัตน์) reports that a special Cabinet meeting held yesterday (September 10) has resulted in the decision to appoint Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Somchai Wongsawat (สมชาย วงศ์สวัสดิ์) as the Interim Prime Minister.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Wichienchote said that the current administration will only consider urgent issues and the Cabinet will convene every Tuesday as usual until a new Cabinet is appointed. The position of Minister of Foreign Affairs will be filled by Deputy Prime Minister Sahat Banditkul (สหัส บิณฑิตกุล) while the position of Minister of Defence will be filled by the Permanent Secretary of Defence.
The Spokesman to the Prime Minister’s Office reports that Government House personnel may be relocated to Don Mueang Airport for the time being. Pol. Lt. Gen. Wichienchote adds that the Cabinet has not yet considered revocation of the Emergency Decree in the Bangkok metropolitan area as proposed by the Minister of Tourism, but will soon discuss the issue.
