Director of the State Railway Authority of Thailand’s Southern Center Tanongsak Pongprasert (ทนงศักดิ์ พงษ์ประเสริฐ) spoke of progress being made in returning southern train lines to service. The trains have been suspended by State Enterprise Union action for 13 days now with the Union stating they will allow them to return to service tomorrow. The Southern SRT has thus instructed all personnel to be ready to continue their duties as negotiations with the State Railway Union have shown signs of conclusion tomorrow.
The southern train line up until now has only been able to use 38 of its 64 trains and 6 freighters. All rail lines originating from Hat Yai station both traveling north and south to the border provinces are still in a state of suspension.
