Senator of Pattani province Worawit Baru (วรวิทย์ บารู) suggests that solutions to the Southern conflict should begins with talks between the national security units and insurgent groups.

In response to the Thai United Southern Underground Group’s ceasefire announcement yesterday (July, 17th), the senator says he supports the government’s attempt to end the Southern violence but casts doubt on the resistance group’s motives. He says the announcement was set up for political benefits and people suspect it as the national security units have refused to express opinions about it.

The senator also suggests that negotiations with insurgents must be made with the intention to create peace in the region.
