Senate Speaker admits concern over image of senate as members show support for PADAugust 29th, 2008 - 1:58 pm ICT by Amrit Rashmisrisethi
Senate Speaker Prasopsuk Boondet (ประสพสุข บุญเดช) stated that although it is the right of Senators to show support and join in the People’s Alliance for Democracy rally he must admit that such activity is a cause for concern towards the image of the Upper House. He said that such actions may affect the image of neutrality of the senate and stated that during today’s meeting the matter will be discussed.
Mr. Prasopsuk expressed his personal opinion that during this time all sides should compromise and work together as the current events are affecting the nation’s peacefulness and image. He commended the government on illustrating restraint and patience.
The speaker stated that the charging of treason towards the protesters was not excessive as it was within regulations to state such a charge. He expressed his belief that when the matter is actually entered into the legal system, the charge will be reduced.
