Second day of Vegetarian Festival in Sungai Kolok kicks off well despite high prices of food

Despite heightened prices of vegetarian food during this year’s festival period, the atmosphere for the Vegetarian Festival in Sungai Kolok district is still vibrant with many citizens taking their vegetarian meals at religious shrines.

The atmosphere of the second day of the Vegetarian Festival in Sungai Kolok district kicked off this morning with vibrancy with citizens crowding the districts few vegetarian food vendors. All vegetarian food has seen an increase of price by 5-10 baht this year as well as reduced portions but citizens on the whole have been accepting of the economic situation which has affected vegetarian ingredients such as vegetables and flour.

In an attempt to counteract the costs however, many citizens have traveled to the districts participating religious shrine where canteens have provided vegetarian meals free of charge.
