Royal Thai Police working closely with military to maintain order

The Deputy Spokesman to the Royal Thai Police, Pol. Maj. Gen. Surapol Thuanthong (สุรพล ทวนทอง), reports that police officers will work closely with military forces to peacefully maintain order under the Emergency Decree.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Surapol reveals that security measures are in place to counter threats of electricity and water sabotage by state enterprise labor unions. Authorities are coordinating closely with state enterprise offices responsible for providing water and electricity in order to ensure that the public is not deprived of these services.

The Deputy Spokesman to the Royal Thai Police also asked all police officers to persevere and maintain discipline during the current political situation in order to carry out their duties of upholding the law. He adds that officers were deeply saddened over the recent clash between People Alliance for Democracy and Democratic Alliance Against Dictatorship demonstrators which resulted in several casualties.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Surapol said that officers will put their full effort into ensuring that such clashes do not occur again in the future.
