Roi Et Governor calls on all related agencies to assist farmers during delay in rainsAugust 27th, 2008 - 10:28 am ICT by Amrit Rashmisrisethi
Roi Et province Governor Pinij Pichyakal (พินิจ พิชยกัลป) revealed that a delay in rain fall from the beginning of July until now has resulted in problems for farmers in 13 districts of the province, especially in Tung Kula Rong Hai (ทุ่งกุลาร้องให). The province had contacted the Royal Rain Making office to request assistance, but the act did not result in as much rain as needed. Weather conditions since the first round of rain making have impeded further efforts and thus the province has called on all related agencies to use emergency funding to take a more pro-active stance against the problem.
Local administration agencies have been given water pumps to help ease the situation while the provinces Disaster prevention and Mitigation office has allowed dams to discharge some amount of water to aid agriculture.
The governor revealed that all agriculturalists in the province may contact their local administration for assistance and use of water pumps.
