Ramkhamhaeng student demonstrators enroute to PM residence shot by unknown assailants

At approximately 20:45 PM last night (September 4), a group of Ramkhamhaeng University students were enroute to the Prime Minister’s residence to call for his resignation when whey were shot by unknown assailants.

Police officers report that more than 100 Ramkhamhaeng University students were traveling to Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej’s residence on Nawamin 81 Road to call for Mr. Samak’s resignation last night (September 4). Upon arriving at the Klong-Chan Flats area (แฟลตคลองจั่น) a motorcycle without license plates slowed near the group, and a passenger riding pillion fire 3 shots at the students, resulting in 2 injuries. The gunshot victims were identified as Mr. Anusak Searhun (อนุศักดิ์ เศียรหุ่น), and Mr. Apichart Nakarit (อภิชาติ นาคฤทธิ์ ). Both students have been transported to Sri-Siam (ศรีสยาม) Hospital for treatment.

The remaining Ramkhamhaeng students traveled to the Lad Phrao (ลาดพร้าว) Police precinct to provide details of the shooting to police officers. Deputy Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police and Interim Metropolitan Police Bureau Commissioner Pol. Gen. Chongrak Chuthanon (จงรัก จุฑานนท์ ) has taken a keen interest in the case and immediately rushed to the crime scene upon being informed of the shooting.
