PTT Public Company Limited is doubling its production of NGV, or natural gas for vehicles, as about 100,000 more motorists in Thailand are expected to install NGV tanks in their vehicles by the end of this year.

Mr. Punnachai Futrakul, the manager supervising the natural gas market for vehicles of PTT, says PTT will produce 5,000 tons from 2,900 tons of NGV to meet the demand of consumers. He says there should be at least 100,000 NGV-installed vehicles by this year’s end. Currently, Thailand has about 93,000 vehicles fueled by NGV, and about 400 vehicles have been equipped with NGV tanks each day.

PTT also plans to increase the number of its NGV stations from 224 to 335 stations by the end of this year. The stations will be divided into three sizes, including personal vehicles, trucks and big trucks.

A new NGV stations for taxis has been set up at the New Southern Terminal, where 50 taxis can fill up their NGV tanks at the same time. This October, four more NTV stations for taxis will be constructed in Bangkok.
