Police start dispersing PAD protestors

August 29th, 2008 - 2:41 pm ICT by Amrit Rashmisrisethi -

About 1,000 police officers are breaking fences set up by the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) in front of the Ministry of Education and the Metropolitan Police Headquarters to approach the protestors’ stage at Misakawan (มิสกวัน) Junction.

PAD built barriers by water tanks to prevent police from entering the area of the demonstration. The officers are now 100 meters away from the protestors. It takes around ten minutes for the officers to break the fences and station themselves at Misakawan Junction. No one has been injured by police’s operation.

Another group of anti-riot police have successfully entered the Government House which has been seized by the protestors. The officers are blocking the protestors from entering and leaving the Government House compound.
