Police Commander visits Narathiwat car bombing victims
August 25th, 2008 - 10:47 am ICT by Amrit RashmisrisethiNational Police Commander, Police General Patcharawat Wongsuwan (พัชรวาท วงษ์สุวรรณ) and his deputy Police Lieutenant General Adul Saengsinghakaew (อดุลย์ แสงสิงห์แก้ว) as well as members of their entourage today traveled to the Narathiwat province hospital to visit those injured a recent car bombing incident in Sungai Ko Lok district. The incident injured over 30 people but at the moment only 5 remain in hospital for care, all in stable conditions. The Police Commander inspected the conditions of the injured and asked them about the event as well as donate aid money and gift baskets.
Police General Patcharawat stated that his travel to the South would also allow him to inspect the scene of the incident and he would receive a briefing on the situation. He commented that the car bombing was a major event that has affected the entire nation and its tourism industry, he stated that the ongoing “peace” policy may have to be adjusted in light of the occurrence. The commander said that adjustments would help officers to be able to be more efficient and would also call on the public to have a greater role.
As for the apprehension of the instigators, the Commander stated that authorities have been able to collect some information and are now gathering witnesses and evidence to request a warrant.
