Police Commander promises stricter measures against illegal street racing
August 15th, 2008 - 9:37 am ICT by Amrit RashmisrisethiNational Police Commander, Police General Patcharawat Wongsuwan (พัชรวาท วงษ์สุวรรณ) stated after attending the funeral of a police officer recently slain while attempting to apprehend a motorcycle gang that the investigation into the gang has been expedited.
The Police Commander commented that the National Police have measures set to deal with illegal street racing, but they have proven not to deter the activity. He revealed over 250 arrests of illegal street racing in July alone and stated that such statistics mean that harsher measures are needed. Police General Patcharawat said that he has instructed police commanders of all districts to call on the man power of police in other units to aid in dealing with the crime. He asked that there not be a repeat of the recent incident.
The Police Commander continued to ask for citizens to aid police by reporting any suspicious activity or clues.
