Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office Julayut Hiranyawasit (จุลยุทธ หิรัณยะวสิต) indicated today that the Government News and Information Act of 1997 has helped to protect the rights of citizens to receive information and monitor their government.
Mr. Julayut revealed that today the Official Information Commission Office has organized a seminar to discuss opinions on improving the 1997 Act as to develop the dispersal of information between government agencies and the public. The improvements will aim to better the access of information for the benefit of the public at large.
The 1997 Act fulfilled a decade of usage last December 9th 2007 and aided citizens in their access to informatin and also insured the freedom of the public to express their ideas freely in a just manner.
