Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej stated via Radio Thailand earlier this morning that he would not resign or dissolve the parliament as a testament to democracy and that he would continue to fulfill his duty to the utmost. He commented on the fact that the entire international community is currently watching the events transpiring in the nation.

As for the resignation of Minister of Foreign Affairs Tej Bunnag, the PM revealed that Mr. Tej felt pressured from all parties surrounding him and ultimately could not withstand the many surrounding issues. Mr. Samak assured that he had no conflict with the minister and thanked him for assisting the nation during his time in office. The premier assured that someone would be found to replace him.

The PM also reiterated the importance and necessity of issuing the Emergency Decree, saying that it allowed the military and police to adequately watch over the nation.
