- The Prime Minister has declined to comment on former premier Thaksin Shinawatra’s declaration to resist efforts of legal action against him, choosing to speak on the threat of unemployment instead.
Upon his return from the Philippines this morning, Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat presided over the weekly Cabinet meeting today. Before entering the meeting, he met with Permanent Secretary for Social Development and Human Security Wallop Ploythapthim (วัลลภ พลอยทับทิม) who led members of his ministry, artists and students to pin a white ribbon on the PM and ministers signifying the end of violence towards children, women and within families.
The Cabinet will today consider issues raised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and educational funding for children of civil servants who perished in the Southern violence. The Cabinet will most likely focus on measures in preparation for potential rising unemployment figures.
