The Minister attached to the Office of the Prime Minister, Mr. Sukhumphong Nhonkham (สุขุมพงศ์ โง่นคำ), says people will approve of the government’s policies which will be announced to the parliament from October 8th – 9th.

The minister says the government has set up a committee in charge of policy drafting chaired by the prime minister and consisting of deputy prime ministers and relevant ministers. The committee drafts the government’s policies in line with the Constitution and the ongoing problems of the country to benefit the country and the people. When the first drafted is completed by the committee, it will be submitted to the premier for approval on September 30th and to the parliament for examination for 3-5 days, Mr Sukhumphong says.

The minister states further that the premier told all sides concerned to use lessons from problems in the past as guidelines to resolve the ongoing problems including the flood conditions which have been severely affected some provinces.

Regarding criticism on the government’s use of populist policies, the minister says it is not wrong to use them if they truly benefit the country and all previous governments had some populist policies.

The minister also reports that the prime minister is scheduled to visit ASEAN member countries and other groups of nations soon after he announces the policies to the parliament.
