Motorists are advised to avoid traveling on Yaowarat road on Saturday morning (August 9th), as many Thai-Chinese descendants are giving food offerings to 11,111 Buddhist monks on the occasion of the national Mother’s Day.
More than 30,000 people are expected to take part in this activity. However, the traffic situation would return to normal in the afternoon.
The Deputy Commander of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, Pol Maj Gen Phanu Kerdlarpphon (ภานุ เกิดลาภผล), said Thammasat University is preparing and holding the degree-handing ceremony from August 8th to 10th, and the event will likely cause congested traffic. 5,786 university students are attending the ceremony.
