PAD to rally in front of Parliament House today
August 1st, 2008 - 1:12 pm ICT by Amrit RashmisrisethiPolice step up security on U Thong Nai (อู่ทองใน) Road in front of the parliament following the announcement by the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) that it will stage a major rally today (August, 1st).
The parliament’s first legislative ordinary session is scheduled today at 09.30 hrs. The meeting has acknowledged the submission of the complaints to dismiss Public Health Minister Chaiya Sasomsab (ไชยา สะสมทรัพย์), the House Speaker, and other parliamentary members who signed a constitutional amendment motion to the National Counter Corruption Commission (NCCC).
Meanwhile, the PAD protestors are going to the Parliament House in the afternoon to protest against the constitutional amendment. Police officers have been increased from one company to five companies or 750 officers to tackle the protestors.
