PAD says it will take last major stand against constitution amendmentJuly 31st, 2008 - 10:35 am ICT by Amrit Rashmisrisethi
Liaison for the People’s Alliance for Democracy Suriyasai Katasila (สุริยะใส กตะศิลา) stated that the PAD rally will probably not exceed another 30 days, pointing to the coming 7 days as “dangerous days”. Mr. Suriyasai was referring to the fact that within the next week several high profile cases that the PAD has rallied against will reach their conclusion, including cases involving former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. The PAD liaison also said that once the government submits its proposal to amend the constitution, citizens will turn to support the PAD and end the administration.
Mr. Suriyasai revealed that the PAD will hold a major gathering tomorrow (August 1) on expectations the government will propose its amendments. Leaders of the PAD have called on provincial chapters of the group to meet in the capital and have asked many to stay in Bangkok. Mr. Suriyasai commented that the PAD’s protest of the constitution amendment would be its last stand.
