PAD calls on government to respond to Udorn Thani clashes
July 28th, 2008 - 9:26 am ICT by Amrit RashmisrisethiOne of the five People’s Alliance for Democracy Leaders Piphop Thongchai (พิภพ ธงไชย) stated during a televising simultaneous to the Prime Minister’s weekly talk show from the PAD stage that the demonstrators are calling on the government to take action in response to recent clashes between the PAD and a rival group in Udornthani province.
The leader stated that the PAD believes the transgressors of the violence were hired by politicians in the province to act as catalyst against the PAD and also insinuated that the PM was avoiding the issue. Mr. Piphop also called on the military to clarify rumors that their personnel were involved in the clash.
Nonetheless, the PAD rally throughout the day was relatively quiet with few attendants.
