PAD attacks PM’s announcement
August 30th, 2008 - 11:34 am ICT by Amrit RashmisrisethiThe People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) refuses to leave the Government House, and the group yesterday (August 29th) attacked police officers who were trying to disperse them.
The protestors are still at the Government House today despite their clashes with police yesterday. The place is now full of canvas tents set up by the protestors to prevent rain. Leaders of PAD have taken turn speaking on the stage. One of them is Amorn Amornrattananont (อมร อมรรัตนานนท์) who said state enterprise labor unions, including the State Railway of Thailand, the Metropolitan Electricity Authority, and Thai Airways International, traveled to join the rally at the Government House to expel the government. Mr Amorn said PAD might adjust its strategies targeted at the Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Mr. Samak Sundaravej.
The media expects that there will be more protestors who have been gradually traveling to join the rally since last night. PAD leaders have tried to invite all of the protestors to gather at the Government House at 08.00 hrs today and boo the premier. The leaders have also criticized a remark on the protest by leader of the Chart Thai party Banharn Silpa-archa.
