OBEC to uphold HM the Queen’s wishes by promoting historical studies
August 15th, 2008 - 9:56 am ICT by Amrit RashmisrisethiAdviser to the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) Suchart Wongsuwan (สุชาติ วงศ์สุวรรณ) stated that the commission will uphold the wishes of Her Majesty the Queen and expedite improvements to the teaching of history. The commission will seek to enrich the content to instill a sense of patriotism and loyalty to the monarchy.
A handbook will be passed out to instructors as well as films to aid students. Allowing students to experience historical sites will also be promoted along with an adjustment to all teaching material so that they coincide with the nation. The emphasis will be placed on instilling an interest of Thai history into students.
