OAG Int l Affairs chief confident Thaksin to be extraditedOctober 22nd, 2008 - 11:23 am ICT by Amrit Rashmisrisethi
Mr. Sirisak Tiyapan, executive director of the Office of the Attorney-General’s (OAG) International Affairs, said this morning (October 22) that he was confident that his office could get Pol Lt Col Thaksin Shinawatra extradited from England following Supreme Court’s verdict on Tuesday imposing two years imprisonment against the former premier on corruption charge on Ratchada land’s deal.
He said that the court’s ruling was in line with Thailand and United Kingdom Extradition Treaty B.E. 2455 in terms of the defendant being convicted for jail term in excess of one year and his wrongdoing defying laws of both nations.
Mr. Sirisak also said that he could not specify time frame for Pol Lt Col Thaksin to be extradited. A meeting for his office’s working group working out time frame was needed first.
