New FM places high hopes for negotiations with Cambodia
July 28th, 2008 - 9:35 am ICT by Amrit RashmisrisethiDirector of the Department of Information and Spokesman of the Foreign Affairs Ministry Tharit Jarungwat (ธฤต จรุงวัฒน) revealed that newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs Tej Bunnag (เตช บุนนาค) admitted during a meeting that border conflict Thailand has with Cambodia at the moment is a complicated issue. He expressed his belief however, that with open mindedness and honest negotiation coupled with the two nations’ long relationship should lead to a positive outcome in tomorrow’s discussions. Nonetheless, Mr. Tej stated that he does not expect a clear outcome from the talks as there are a multitude of details.
The minister affirmed that the area in which Thai soldiers are now stationed along the border are still within the nation’s bounds.
