NCCC affirms its appointment lawfulJuly 24th, 2008 - 12:51 pm ICT by Amrit Rashmisrisethi
Secretary-General of the National Counter Corruption Commission (NCCC), Sarawut Menasawet (ศราวุธ เมนะเศวต), explains the appointment of the present NCCC panel to the constitutional organizations’ committee, affirming that the appointment is according to the law.
Today (July, 24th), the committee’s meeting, chaired by Suthin Khlangsaeng (สุทิน คลังแสง), reviews the request for the inspection of NCCC appointment. The NCCC secretary-general who was invited to attend the meeting affirms the present NCCC members were lawfully appointed in line with the 19 and 31 announcements of the Council for Democratic Reform who staged the 2006 coup. The secretary-general also says NCCC has submitted a letter to the Secretariat of the Cabinet about the commission’s endorsement by His Majesty the King.
As for the allegation that NCCC neglects its work by not inspecting members of the parliament and senators who own shares in a company doing business with the government, the secretary-general says the matter is the responsibility of the Constitutional Court.
