Nan to install more warning systemsSeptember 10th, 2008 - 11:36 am ICT by Amrit Rashmisrisethi
Nan province expedites the installation of warning systems in Tha Wang (ท่าวังผา) district to warn people of inundation.
District Chief of Tha Wang Pha Manas Khansai (มนัส ขันใส) reports that the flood situation in the district has improved and the district is distributing aid to residents from 91 villages affected by the flood. 65 houses so far have been damaged. The flood has also affected agricultural areas, bridges, and electricity poles.
Mr Manas says the district has stepped up measures to deal with flooding as it is a low land which takes in water from other areas. The Friends in Need (of Pa) Volunteers Foundation said it will install more warning systems in the district, the district chief says.
People who want to assist the flood-affected can donate money with the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives, Tha Wang Pha branch, for the renovation of the damaged residences and evacuation of villagers from flood-prone areas.
