Governor of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority (MRTA) Prapas Jongsanguan (ประภัสร์ จงสงวน) has submitted his resignation from the position to fulfill his plan to run for governor of Bangkok. The authority’s administration has assured that the event will not affect the MTRA’s plans.
Director-General of the Department of Rural Roads Supoj Suplome (สุพจน์ ทรัพย์ล้อม) acting as Chairman of the MRTA Boardrevealed that Mr. Prapas submitted his resignation during an emergency meeting yesterday. The board did not object to Mr. Prapas’s wishes and will now proceed to elect an interim but still do not have a time frame for the matter.
The governor’s interim will pick up on all projects of the MRTA with all legal authority of the position. An auction for the purple train line will be opened soon to complete the matter before the construction initiation date of December 5th.
