Caretaker Director-General of the Department of Land Transport, Mr. Chairat Sa-nguansue (ชัยรัตน์สงวนชื่อ), said motorists have another 15 days to inform the Department of Land Transport conerning their remodification of vehicle engine.
In response to the recent explosion of an NGV bus from Paknam-Sri-iem (ปากน้ำ-ศรีเอี่ยม) on August 8th, Mr. Chairat asserted that the explosion occured as the NGV bus did not go through its yearly inspection. In addition, the bus had yet informed the Department of its engine modification after since it had installed NGV.
At the same time, the deputy director for private bus department of Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA), Mr. Chatkaew Phothongnak (ฉัตรแก้ว โพธิ์ทองนาค), has ensured all passengers of the safety of the unit’s newly installed NGV buses. He said BMTA has inspected all buses’ conditions at least twice a year. Following the incident of Paknam-Sri-iem (ปากน้ำ-ศรีเอี่ยม) private bus, Mr. Chatkaew said the BMTA has been urged to conduct more rounds of inspection on its buses.
