August 20th, 2008 - 1:38 pm ICT by Amrit Rashmisrisethi ( Leave a comment )Governor of Mukdaharn province Praneet Boonmee (ปราณีต บุญมี) stated that a Hydrology Survey Center report on the flood situation in the province has revealed that water levels in the Mekong River have returned to acceptable levels. The level has been measured at 12.37 meters, less than the critical level of 13 meters. Nonetheless, the province has tasked all related agencies to continue monitoring the situation until it has completely subsided. The province is still concerned about problems that may follow the flooding, such as the spread of water born diseases.
The province has dispatched groups to deter the spread of diseases and is also asking citizens to beware for their own health and watch for animals that may have been transported by the water.
Municipal works offices have dispatched public health officers to give check ups to citizens.
