Local farming products fair unveiled in South

August 27th, 2008 - 1:59 pm ICT by Amrit Rashmisrisethi -

The Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry is joining hands with the Southern Border Province Administration Center (SBPAC) to organize an agricultural product fair in order to promote the distribution of local farming products produced by local residents in the southern provinces of Thailand.

The fair will be held at a local Marketing Organization for Farmers between 08.00 and 20.00 o’clock from September 11th to 14th, 2008. Apart from promoting the local products, Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Somsak Prissananthakul (สมศักดิ์ ปริศนานันทกุล) reveals that the event also aims to help local farmers gain additional income.

Mr. Somsak adds that the move is one of the Government’s economic policies to propel the economy forward after the local economy became sluggish due to fear of insurgencies. He says constant violence have shaken national security and peace among local people as a whole.

With the 2008 fiscal, SBPAC has allocated 112.27 million baht budgets to finance around 20 training projects, which emphasize agricultural production. Mr. Somsak claims SBPAC will inject an estimated 4.27 million baht budget to make the upcoming farming product fair possible.
