Legal consultant calls for inspection of credentials of Constitution Tribunal Justice
November 11th, 2008 - 2:25 pm ICT by Amrit Rashmisrisethi ( 1 comment )Legal Consultant Phicha Vichitsin (พิชา วิจิตรศิลป์) has submitted a request to the Senate to inspect the credentials of Constitution Tribunal Justice Charan Phakdithanakul (จรัล ภักดีธนากุล) after discovering that he had served in a variety of agencies prior to his placement in the post.
Mr. Phicha traveled to meet with Senate Speaker Prasopsuk Boondet (ประสพสุข บุญเดช) this morning to submit his request for a review of Constitution Tribunal Justice Charan Pakdeethanakul’s previous employments. Mr. Phicha handed his request to the Deputy Secretary-General of the Senate. The request called for the revocation of Mr. Charan’s position as well as the inspection of credentials for other constitution court justices. If found to be inappropriately chosen for the position, all of his previous legal rulings will be overturned, Mr Phicha said.
Mr. Picha said as former Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej was forced to step down from his post due to infringements of Constitution Article 267, the law should also apply to Mr. Charan who also served as an employee prior to his present post. Mr. Charan had previously served in various universities and as a radio speaker.

Very interesting. Could this inspection ultimately lead to his removal? From what I know about Mr. Charan, he has helped to increase pubic safety in a number of ventures, particularly the amendment to Land Transportation Act where suspected drunk drivers are required to take an alcohol test or possibly detained if they refuse to do so. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for letting me share.
