Interior Minister still in good terms with PM
August 1st, 2008 - 10:08 am ICT by Amrit RashmisrisethiThe Interior Minister, Pol. Capt. Chalerm Yubamrung (เฉลิม อยู่บำรุง), yesterday (July 31st) insisted that he will not have any hard feelings toward the Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Mr. Samak Sundaravej (สมัคร สุนทรเวช), should he be dismissed from the Ministry of Interior following the Cabinet reshuffle. The new Cabinet line-up is expected to be announced soon after the royal endorsement.
Interior Minister Chalerm said he was not personally informed that the Prime Minister’s Secretary-General, Mr. Theerapol Noprampa (ธีรพล นพรัมภา), could be behind the Cabinet shake-up. However, he said he would still pay respect to the holy statue at the Ministry of Interior, if he has to leave his post.
The Interior Minister dined with the former premier, Gen. Chavalit Yongchaiyudh (ชวลิต ยงใจยุทธ), yesterday evening, but said his meeting with the political veteran had no hidden political agenda.
