Import of luxury products hit 37.5% in last six months

The Ministry of Commerce reported that Thailand’s import of luxury products during the last six months expanded by 37.5 percent, and its worth was about 7.43 billion US dollars. Most of the import orders were electrical appliances.

Despite the product price hikes, about 28 types of foreign luxury items were imported to Thailand. Most of them were electricital appliances worth around 1.35 billion US dollars, jewelries worth 390 million US dollars, watches and its parts worth 240 million US dollars, as well as cosmetics and detergents worth 220 million US dollars.

The Commerce Ministry reported that Thailand also imported beverages, such as soda and liquor valued at 140 million US dollars.
