Gold ornaments selling for 13,150 baht per half troy ounce today
September 13th, 2008 - 1:30 pm ICT by Amrit RashmisrisethiThe Gold Trader’s Association of Thailand reports that the ask price and bid price for gold ornaments today (September 13) are 12,461.52 baht, and 13,150 baht respectively. The ask price and bid price for gold bars are 12,650 baht, and 12,750 baht, respectively. Gold prices in the United States increased by 12.70 dollars, or 1.7 percent to close at 758.20 dollars per troy ounce.
Meanwhile gold purchases increased significantly among Thai-Muslims consumers due to the conclusion of the Ramadan Festival and the beginning of the Lailat al Qadr Festival at the end of this month. Police and military forces in the restive south are on increased alert in order to ensure the safety of large numbers of Thai-Muslims who are out purchasing gold ornaments today.
