Flood in Chiang Rai subsidesSeptember 8th, 2008 - 3:15 pm ICT by Amrit Rashmisrisethi
The flood condition on Mae Sai (แม่สาย) district in Chiang Rai province has begun to subside but the water level of Sai River has remained high.
Around 50 shops in the district have been damaged by a 50-centimeter-high flood caused by the overflowing Mae Sai River. Officials of the municipality of Mae Sai have installed alarms to warn people of flooding and monitored the situation around the clock as the water level of the upper part of the river has been increasing after heavy rain.
Meanwhile, the flood situation in the districts of Wiang Pa Pao (เวียงป่าเป้า) and Mae Sarouy (แม่สรวย) has returned to normal. Officials are speeding up surveying the damage.
