Fine Arts Department forbids occult ceremonies in Phanom Rung Park during solar eclipseAugust 1st, 2008 - 4:23 pm ICT by Amrit Rashmisrisethi
The Director of Phanom Rung (พนมรุ้ง) Historical Park, Mr. Dusit Ratanamaethanont (ดุสิต ทุมมาภรณ์), reports that park officials and local authorities are working to ensure that occult ceremonies are not held on park grounds during today’s upcoming solar eclipse (August 1).
Mr. Dusit reports that the Fine Arts Department has specifically forbidden occult worshippers from performing summoning ceremonies in Phanom Rung (พนมรุ้ง) Historical Park due to concerns that their actions may result in damage to historical artifacts and structures. Police officers will be posted throughout the park area and lights will kept on for the evening.
The Director of Phanom Rung (พนมรุ้ง) Historical Park added that occult ceremonies are mainly conducted for financial gains, conflict with Buddhist teachings, and are detrimental to the conservation of historical property. Occult ceremony participants found withint Phanom Rung will be subjected to legal action.
