Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Doctor Surapong Suebwonglee (สุรพงษ์ สืบวงศ์ลี) commented that today’s Cabinet meeting would see all ministries cooperating to propose a new set of mechanisms to stimulate the economy for the latter end of the year. He said that the measures will aim to alleviate the burden on citizens faced with increasingly high standards of living. Doctor Surapong admitted that despite the socialist nature of the measures that may cause criticism, he felt assured that they would ultimately yield benefits for citizens. He said that if the Cabinet were to approve the mechanisms today, it would help to create better circulation and aid the public.
Doctor Surapong, who is also the Secretary General of the People Power Party, assured that the new set of measures are not a campaign ploy suggestive of a potential re-election. He expressed confidence that the government still retains a high level of confidence from the general public. He also commented that for the tentative reshuffle, the matter of quota’s will not be prioritized as having suitable people for each position, is more important.
