EC to discuss House Speakers stock holdings today
September 9th, 2008 - 11:38 am ICT by Amrit RashmisrisethiChairman of the Election Commission (EC) Apichart Sukakanont (อภิชาต สุขัคคานนท์) stated that today’s EC meeting will have an agenda concerning House Speaker Chai Chidchob’s (ชัย ชิดชอบ) stake holdings in a government concessioned company. Mr. Apichart mentioned however, that the commission will not be able to conclude today whether or not to forward the matter to the Constitution Tribunal. He said if the matter is not completed it will be continued tomorrow as most other matters are minor local issues.
The case was submitted to the EC by the Democrat party in response to People Power Party MP’s seeking similar charges against Democrat MPs. The issue is cited in Constitution Article 265 (2).
