The Deputy Minister of Commerce, Mr. Wirun Techapaiboon (วิรุฬ เตชะไพบูลย์), chaired the inauguration of a seminar entitled ‘Offshore Investments: A Challenge to Thai Investors’. The objective of this seminar was to help Thai entrepreneurs adapt to the competitive environment by relocating their investments to low-cost countries.
In the seminar organized at Sofitel Central Grand Hotel, Mr. Wirun suggested that to survive in the economic crisis, Thai business operators may wish to consider running their productivity in the countries that offer benefits and incentives in terms of workforce.
The Deputy Minister of Commerce said Thailand’s industrial sector, especially the textile industry, is experiencing a problem in terms of high costs of production. He says the countries that may offer excellent incentives include China, Vietnam and India.
