The Deputy Commander of the National Police, Police General Jongrak Jutanont (จงรัก จุฑานนท์) expresses his confidence that the demonstration in front of Parliament House today will be under control.
In terms of security measurements, Pol Gen Jongrak has ordered the deployment of seven companies of police officers and another two companies of police officers. He claims the deployment aims to prevent the possible confrontation and clash between protesters of People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) and Government supporters.
The officers are at the moment formed between the two congregations with barricades and PAD protesters and Government supporters are standing off around 50 meters from each other. Officers securing the outer compound of the Parliament House are reportedly holding shields to prevent clash while those who guard inside the Parliament House are rally suppression officers with weapons.
Pol Gen Jongrak says the tighten security aims to prevent the intrusion to the building, adding that intelligence unit is instructed to seek source thoroughly to prevent third-hand people to stir up possible negative situations.
